CHIRP sounders are external sonar units. The CHIRP transducer plugs into the sounder and the sounder box is connected to a multi-function display through a high-speed cable.
These sounders offer premium features such as support for dual-band transducers which are often not found in integrated fishfinder displays with their built-in sonar circuity.
Most sounders can only be used with a display of the same brand. The table at the bottom of this page contains a summary of all available CHIRP sounders.
Furuno currently offers only one CHIRP sounder, the DFF1-UHD.
This sounder is designed for use with Airmar dual-band Low/High CHIRP transducers with a wide beam.
It can connect to NavNet TZtouch and NavNet 3D displays.
Garmin offers three dual-band CHIRP sounders, the GCV-10, the GSD 25 and the GSD 26.
These sounders can be connected to select echoMAP or GPSMAP displays by a Garmin Network cable.
The GSD 25 and GSD 26 use standard Airmar dual-band transducers, and the GCV 10 comes with a custom Garmin dual-band transducer.
Humminbird currently offers only one CHIRP sounder, the SM3000.
This sounder is designed for use with the Onix and Helix series of multi-function displays.
Lowrance currently offers only one CHIRP sounder, the SonarHub.
This sounder is for use with Airmar single-band CHIRP transducers in the Low, Medium or High bands.
It connects to compatible HDS-series displays.
Raymarine offers a wide range of CHIRP sounders - the CP100, CP200, CP370, CP470 and CP570.
Simrad offers the SonarHub external CHIRP sounder for single-band transducers in the Low, Medium and High bands, the BSM-3 external CHIRP sounder for high-performance dual-band transducers in the Low/Medium or Low/High bands, and the S5100 which can handle three CHIRP bands simultaneously.
