Dual-band CHIRP transducers operate simultaneously in two frequency ranges, typically the Low & High ranges (LH) or the Low & Medium ranges (LM). These transducers give greatly enhanced image resolution at a wide range of depths.
Transducers with a standard beam width have a low-frequency band beam with a cone of up to 15°. Wide-beam models have low-frequency beams of up to 25° and ultra-wide-beam models have beams width of up to 40°.
Wider beams at low frequencies increase the area covered by the transducer and reveal more fish in the water column.
Dual-band transducers can only be used with sounders or fishfinders that are designed to handle them.
